Description
Strawbery Banke Museum invites visitors to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 14th as a volunteer for Garden Cleanup Day, 8:30am-12:30pm. An annual tradition, the Earth Day volunteers help accomplish what would otherwise be three months of work in just a few hours. As a token of appreciation and the sustainability mission of Earth Day, Strawbery Banke rewards volunteers with complimentary heirloom seeds for plants with strong regional ties. With spring and Strawbery Banke’s Baby Animals: Heritage Breeds on the Banke (April 21-29) on the horizon, this garden clean-up is perfectly timed. Rain date: Sunday, April 15th.                                 Volunteers should arrive at the TYCO Visitors Center at Strawbery Banke Museum for work assignments and refreshments (compliments of Starbucks) at 8:30 am. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, gloves and any gardening tools they may prefer to use. A complimentary pizza/pot luck lunch follows the morning’s work, at 12:30. Pizza is donated by Flatbread Company of Portsmouth. The event is free but advance registration is requested for planning purposes.

Strawbery Banke Museum
Strawbery Banke Museum, in the heart of historic downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is an authentic 10-acre outdoor history museum dedicated to bringing 300+ years of American history in the same waterfront neighborhood to life. The Museum is a place for children, adults, multigenerational families, and groups to gather to explore eight heritage gardens, 32 historic buildings, and traditional crafts, preservation programs, hands-on activities, the stories told by costumed role-players and the changing exhibits that offer hours of fun and discovery. The Museum's restored buildings and open space invite visitors to immerse themselves in the past, using objects from the museum's collection of 30,000 artifacts, and the histories of the families who lived and worked in the Puddle Dock neighborhood to engage, educate, and entertain.
